Archana Bennur is an acclaimed professional South Indian classical musician who traces her family lineage back to traditional classical court musicians in the Kingdom of Mysore (she is the granddaughter of Swaramurthy V.N. Rao who was the grandson of Vainika Shikhamani Veena Sheshanna (1852-1926), a renowned musician of Mysore).
Trained under renowned classical musicians, as well as in the South Indian classical music department at the University of Madras; she then obtained a master’s degree in music from the University of Mysore with a Gold Medal for very high achievement. She holds the prestigious title of “graded artist” with All India Radio and has given acclaimed and award-winning performances at prominent events and institutions across India, including Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Chennai. She currently lives in Seattle, but returns frequently to India to perform and lecture.
